When a company sells goods through Amazon’s marketplace, logistics can operate in two primary ways: Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) or Fulfillment by Merchant (FBM). The two different ways create different requirements on the logistics setup and how to operate this. The two models can also be combined, or alternated, even on a SKU level why there are numerous ways to design an optimal logistics setup. In addition to this, Amazon offers a lot other services related to logistics. For example, Amazon’s FBA model can be used for external D2C sales and Amazon even has its own 3PL service (Amazon Warehouse and Distribution) that is integrated with FBA but also possible to used for B2B sales. Navigating through all possible services can be complex but can save you a lot of money and headache in the end of the day!
